Jena Fields, DDS, MS

Jena Fields, DDS, MS

Partner

Hi, I’m Dr. Jena Fields! I love being a pediatric dentist and watching my patients grow up. I earned my four-year dental degree from the University of Michigan in 1998 and then continued specialty training at the University of Michigan, graduating with a master’s degree and certificate in pediatric dentistry in 2000. I joined Dr. Camps office in 2001. I am now proud to be a partner at Dr. Camps Pediatric Dental Center — a practice that makes great effort to provide an exceptional patient experience.

I know a visit to the dentist can be intimidating for children and parents. I believe everyone deserves excellent and individualized care and it’s the child who’s being treated, not just the cavity. Sometimes this means taking extra time to explain a procedure. My patients’ parents are always invited to sit in on cleanings and procedures.

I always want your experience to be as pleasant as possible and as a mother, I strive to create an environment of warmth and compassion for your child. It’s what I would expect for my son.

I am proud to have been recognized by my peers as one of The Washingtonian’s Top Doctors and also featured as “Best Dentist” in Bethesda Magazine for consecutive years. It’s an honor to have my enthusiasm for my patients and my skills and training recognized.

Dr. Fields is married to Dan Ekstein and is proud mother to Max, who also is a patient at Dr. Camps Pediatric Dental Center. When asked what he likes about his dentist, Max says his mom is “gentle, nice, and never gives up.” Dr. Fields enjoys skiing and a good snow storm which reminds her of wonderful times growing up in upstate NY. Dr. Fields is passionate about art and taught art and photography to children for many summers as a camp counselor. She also learned to become quite a good cook after caring for her son’s multiple food and environmental allergies. Max’s favorite dish – Parmesan crusted tilapia and rice!

Melanie Acosta, DMD

Melanie Acosta, DMD

Hello, my name is Dr. Acosta! I grew up in a small town in Connecticut. I received my dental degree from the University of Connecticut in 2003; my specialty training in pediatric dentistry was performed at the University of Maryland.

I have been a member of the Dr. Camps’ team since April 2006.

From a very young age I always knew I wanted to work with children. Before attending dental school I volunteered at different daycare centers, was a camp counselor, worked as a childcare provider during church services and was even a teacher at Gymboree!

I enjoy teaching children and their families how to take care of their teeth. The best part of my day is helping apprehensive children through their dental appointments. It’s a great feeling when we can dry tears, erase fears and have children walk out of our office with a smile – and a prize, of course! At our office we strive to treat each child as we would like our own. As a mother of two small children I knew how much our patients and our families appreciate that!!
